Transplant

Transplant breaks new ground in so many ways. The series features a Syrian Muslim doctor as the lead character, realistic and nuanced portrayals of the challenges faced by refugees, and the real trauma of those struggling to survive in war zones. At a time when healthcare workers are overburdened, exhausted, and having to perform in heroic ways, Transplant provides viewers with an inspiring team of doctors who are also invariably human.

The team of producers and writers made it a priority to perfect these characters, their backgrounds, and the storyline. It was important to depict the struggles and triumphs each character faced to show a more human perspective of refugees, immigrants, and Muslims the audience might have not seen before.

“There are immigrants and refugees in every show that we see, and they’re never given the spotlight. The difference here is you actually see a different dimension to a character you may have seen in other shows, but you never get to go home with them. We explore things on this show that are foreign to a lot of people because they’ve not been accurately represented in mainstream media.
